TR Index developed by ULAKBİM covers five main subject fields; namely, Health Sciences, Engineering and Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Life Sciences and Law.

National scientific journals comprising the content of TR Index are selected according to Journal Evaluation Criteris by expert committees consisting of ULAKBİM TR Index specialists and academicians working in related subject areas.

Health Sciences Database

Health Sciences Database, which  is  open  to  researchers  in  the  web  since  1996,  covers research articles in Turkish and other languages, in the field of Health Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutics, Nursing etc.), in journals published in Turkey.

The database aims at providing rapid and efficient access to national literature in Health Sciences for researchers working in this field. The journals to be included in the database are selected by ULAKBİM Turkish Health Sciences Database Committee, according to the Journal Evaluation Criteria conforming to the international standards.

The Committee which was formed with the purpose of establishing a Health Sciences Database has performed its function within the body of TÜBİTAK Health Sciences Research Group during the years 1994-2000. Since then, it has been working within the body of ULAKBİM, in accordance with “TR Index Meeting and Working Principles”. The Committee aims at improving the publication quality of journals in this field, based on defined criteria to match international standards. Compliance with Journal Evaluation Criteria is sought in journals applying to be accepted to the Database. These criteria are revised and updated regularly, in line with technological developments. Print versions of Health Sciences Database have been published under the title of Turkish Medical Index during the years 1993-1997. Starting with the year 2000, the data from 1996 onwards has been transferred to electronic environment, and is available in searchable form on the webpage. Standards of the National Library of Medicine have been adopted for data entry. Abstracts and fulltexts of a considerable number of articles in the database are accessible since 2001. Searches can be made using the search interface at the website of the Database.

Social ve Sciences and Humanities Database (SBVT)

Social Sciences and Humanities Database (SBVT), developed by ULAKBİM with the aim of providing rapid and efficient access to the national literature in Social Sciences and Humanities for researchers working in these fields is open to access from the internet since 2002. SBVT covers journals published in Turkey under 28 different subject fields. The journals in the database are selected by ULAKBİM Social Sciences and Humanities Database Committee, according to the Journal Evaluation Criteria conforming to the international standards.

Database development studies have started in ULAKBİM in May 2002, in accordance with the joint decision of TÜBİTAK and ULAKBİM Directorate. Correspondance with the journals started following the establishment of the Committee in July 2002. Evaluation procedure began in March-April 2002, along with data entry and indexing. The database is opened to access on the webpage of ULAKBİM in July 2004 as Social Sciences Database. Its coverage is extended encompassing Theology / Religious Studies and Law subject fields, and its name is changed to Social Sciences and Humanities Database, with the decision number 62 dated 8 January 2010 of ULAKBİM Board of Directors.

Life Sciences Database

Life Sciences Database includes journals published in Turkey in the fields of Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary, Animal Husbandry, Aquatic Products, Food, and Biology. The journals in the database are selected by ULAKBİM Life Sciences Database Committee, according to the Journal Evaluation Criteria conforming to the international standards.

Engineering and Basic Sciences Database (MTBVT)

The database covers journals published in Turkey in the fields of Engineering and Basic&Applied Sciences since 1992, with the aim of providing rapid and efficient access to the national literature for researchers working in these fields. An academic committee is established in the year 2006, and the Database work is carried on under the guidance of this committee in ULAKBİM.

Law Database

Law is included within the scope of databases developed in ULAKBİM with the decision taken in the meeting number 62 dated 8 January 2010 of ULAKBİM Board of Directors. A Law Database is created for legal and law-related research, under the guidance of a Committee composed of specialists in the field.
